These are just basic mashed potatoes so feel free to doll them up any way you want.

Ingredients

2 lbs peeled or unpeeled potatoes (red, Yukon or russet)

2 tablespoons salt

salt and pepper

1 cup milk

1/2 – 1 stick butter or margarine

 

Directions:

Cut potatoes into chunks. Put potatoes in a large saucepan and cover with cold water; add salt. Bring to a simmer (do not boil) and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 20-25 minutes.

Drain the potatoes, then return to the pan; add salt, pepper, milk and butter. Whip with hand mixer or mash with a potato masher or fork.

 

Optional add ins-

cream cheese (instead of butter)

parsley

cheese

green onions

wasabi

garlic
